Les athl\u00e8tes ont pour but de descendre une piste artificielle glac\u00e9e le plus rapidement possible. Le d\u00e9part est arr\u00eat\u00e9, l&#8217;athl\u00e8te est assis sur sa luge et se propulse en tirant avec les bras sur deux poign\u00e9es fix\u00e9es de part et d&#8217;autre de la piste (Fig. 1). Les vitesses maximales peuvent d\u00e9passer les 120 km\u00b7h<sup>-1<\/sup>&nbsp;et les places entre les athl\u00e8tes se jouent g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement sur des centi\u00e8mes de seconde.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Parmi les facteurs influen\u00e7ant la performance dans ce type de sport, nous pouvons citer les facteurs m\u00e9caniques comme&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/sci-sport.com\/articles\/003.php\">l&#8217;a\u00e9rodynamisme<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/sci-sport.com\/articles\/007.php\">la r\u00e9sistance de friction<\/a>, les facteurs environnementaux comme les conditions climatiques, la temp\u00e9rature et les facteurs li\u00e9s \u00e0 l&#8217;athl\u00e8te comme la r\u00e9action aux ordres de d\u00e9part, l&#8217;\u00e9quipement, et la phase de d\u00e9part.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Parmi ces facteurs, la phase de d\u00e9part, et surtout le temps sur les 10 premiers m\u00e8tres, est consid\u00e9r\u00e9e comme le meilleur pr\u00e9dicteur de la performance d&#8217;une descente. C&#8217;est durant cette phase de d\u00e9part que l&#8217;athl\u00e8te se pr\u00e9pare \u00e0 s&#8217;\u00e9jecter : Assis sur sa luge, tout en se tenant aux poign\u00e9es de d\u00e9part, il fait glisser la luge vers l&#8217;avant avant d&#8217;acc\u00e9l\u00e8rer la luge vers l&#8217;arri\u00e8re en recherchant une amplitude maximale. Cette phase permet d&#8217;activer le&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/sci-sport.com\/articles\/001.php#EPE\">cycle \u00e9tirement-d\u00e9tente<\/a>&nbsp;des cha\u00eenes musculaires du tronc. Puis, l&#8217;athl\u00e8te va tirer sur les poign\u00e9es de d\u00e9part de mani\u00e8re explosive pour gagner de la vitesse. Lorsque les hanches passent devant les poign\u00e9es, l&#8217;athl\u00e8te pousse sur celles-ci. Tous ces athl\u00e8tes avaient au minimum 3 ans d&#8217;exp\u00e9rience en luge, avec plusieurs participations aux jeux olympiques et au moins 1 ann\u00e9e d&#8217;exp\u00e9rience en musculation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">La performance chronom\u00e9trique<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">L&#8217;\u00e9tude a consist\u00e9 en 2 phases distinctes. Tout d&#8217;abord, ils ont relev\u00e9 les meilleures performances chronom\u00e9triques sur la phase de d\u00e9part (Fig. 2) en 2007, lors d&#8217;un championnat national de d\u00e9part. Des cellules photo\u00e9lectriques permettaient de mesurer le temps. Chaque athl\u00e8te avait le droit \u00e0 2 essais, le meilleur des deux \u00e9tait retenu pour l&#8217;\u00e9tude.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">La force du haut du corps<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ensuite, les athl\u00e8tes ont particip\u00e9 \u00e0 des tests de force du haut du corps r\u00e9partis sur 2 journ\u00e9es. Lors de la premi\u00e8re journ\u00e9e, il ont d\u00e9termin\u00e9 le&nbsp;1RM&nbsp;au d\u00e9velopp\u00e9 couch\u00e9, pieds sur le banc (Fig. 3) et ont r\u00e9alis\u00e9 le maximum de tractions main en pronation sur 15 secondes (except\u00e9 pour le groupe de Junior). Lors de la seconde journ\u00e9e, ils ont d\u00e9termin\u00e9 le&nbsp;1RM&nbsp;au tirage allong\u00e9 (Fig. 4) et aux tractions lest\u00e9es, mains en pronation (Fig. assis (<em>i.e.<\/em>, du sol \u00e0 la 7<sup>\u00e8me<\/sup>&nbsp;vert\u00e8bre cervicale lorsque l&#8217;athl\u00e8te est assis)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>La taille des sujets<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A partir de ces tests, les chercheurs ont \u00e9tudi\u00e9 statistiquement les donn\u00e9es \u00e0 l&#8217;aide d&#8217;une matrice de corr\u00e9lation de Bravais-Pearson pour voir quels param\u00e8tres de force ou anthropom\u00e9triques \u00e9taient les mieux li\u00e9s \u00e0 la performance chronom\u00e9trique lors de la phase de d\u00e9part.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>R\u00e9sultats &amp; Analyses<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Les r\u00e9sultats statistiques de cette \u00e9tude sont pr\u00e9sent\u00e9s N\u00e9anmoins, les autres exercices, dont le d\u00e9velopp\u00e9 couch\u00e9, montrent de fortes corr\u00e9lations \u00e9galement. Il semblerait que le travail de la force musculaire sur les muscles agonistes et antagonistes de la ceinture scapulaire soit li\u00e9 \u00e0 une meilleure performance chronom\u00e9trique de d\u00e9part. Cette corr\u00e9lation pourrait venir du fait que le bras poss\u00e8de la masse musculaire la plus importante du membre sup\u00e9rieur. C&#8217;est un des crit\u00e8res qui pourrait entrer en compte lors de la d\u00e9tection de jeunes athl\u00e8tes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Applications pratiques<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Les exercices utilis\u00e9s dans cette \u00e9tude pour tester la force des athl\u00e8tes servent \u00e9galement \u00e0 \u00e9valuer les athl\u00e8tes nationaux am\u00e9ricains. Or la force maximale sur ces exercices du haut du corps apparait comme un facteur tr\u00e8s important de la performance du d\u00e9part en luge. N\u00e9anmoins, ce d\u00e9part est un mouvement tr\u00e8s technique qui n\u00e9cessite une phase d&#8217;apprentissage et de perfectionnement assez longue. Les jeunes athl\u00e8tes moins exp\u00e9riment\u00e9s s&#8217;am\u00e9lioreront bien plus avec un entra\u00eenement bas\u00e9 sur la technique. Cependant, plus la technique sera ma\u00eetris\u00e9e et plus l&#8217;athl\u00e8te devra am\u00e9liorer ses capacit\u00e9s physiques comme la force maximale et l&#8217;explosivit\u00e9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Il serait int\u00e9ressant de tester, sur ces exercices, d&#8217;autres param\u00e8tres cin\u00e9tiques tels que la puissance, le taux de d\u00e9veloppement de force (<em>i.e.<\/em>, la force explosive) et la vitesse, par exemple.
